Scrap the Girls Feb challenge - Love This

I haven't updated my blog in such a very long time, but thought I would start to share some more of my work (you never know, someone may even read this!) To get some inspiration, I headed over to the Scrap the Girls challenge blog, and the February challenge is: LOVE in the TITLE TURQUOISE as the DOMINANT COLOUR and CHIPBOARD Here is my take:
I hope it's OK that I included my Hubby in the pic ;) It was a special photo of Em & Gus cooling off in the pool on a hot day. She was having a ball & decided to give him a piggyback. I just had to scrap this pic! I enjoyed using some mixed media techniques, with texture paste & stencils (which I put glitter embossing powder over the top & set using my heat gun. This gives a bubbly effect, which I thought would work well with the pool theme). I also dripped some turquoise glimmer mist on the background & did some stamping with Peacock Feathers Distress ink. And of course, used the Tim Holtz distressing tool to rough up the edges. Here are some closeups of some of the details:
I used those same glimmer mist & Distress combo to colour elements on the page and give the page some continuity, such as on the chippy & Pink Paislee artisan pieces. I also used sequins and enamel dots to emulate water splashes or bubbles. I had a lot of fun creating this page. I wonder what they will think of my turquoise fingers at work tomorrow?
